RED Groups

This group is comprised of swimmers at a “learn to competitive swim level” who are interested in developing some additional competitive swimming skills.
This group swims four times per week (2 times per week for Red Intro group). (
Training Schedule). Most athletes in this group are between the ages of 7 and 10 but this is not a requirement for this level. The goal for this level is to introduce the beginning swim team members to a competitive team atmosphere while keeping the focus on learning skills and having fun.

 

BLACK Group

At the BLACK level the swimmer has progressed in their skill development and their endurance level to begin to participate five times per week. (Training Schedule). These are usually second or third year swimmers who have achieved a certain number of competitive swimming skills. The goal for this group is to bring the athletes in to a slightly elevated competitive atmosphere where they may travel to a few more competitions per year. There is still a high focus on technical development and refinement of the basic skills of swimming FAST.

 

PROVINCIAL Group

These swimmers have been in the program for two or more seasons and have shown an ability to perform and an interest to pursue the sport of competitive swimming. When a swimmer enters this level they have made a decision to move forward and work at excelling at the sport of swimming. These swimmers practice six times per week. (Training Schedule) These athletes have a achieved a level of swimming which allows then to travel to more advanced competitions including two and three day swim meets. The goal for this group is to begin to develop some of the necessary skills to become dedicated and successful swimmers. They begin to learn proper training habits and focus on improving endurance and refining all skills necessary to excel at the sport.

 

INTER-PROVINCIAL Group

This level trains nine times per week (Training Schedule) and has developed to a point of being able to be competitive around the province and also travel to other Maritime destinations. The goal for this group is to really emphasize physical development and endurance while maintaining good technical skills in their training.

 

NATIONAL Group

These swimmers are making a transition to an elite level of swimming and have made a commitment to train as much as fourteen times per week. (Training Schedule) At this level the swimmers begin to focus very exclusively on swimming and travel often for competitions and training camps. The goal for this group is to excel and improve to a point that they can train and achieve the results to move forward on to inter-provincial / national and international levels of swimming performance and training.
