Fundraising

Fundraising Policy

FAST as a team derives approximately 20% of its operating budget every season from fundraising.  We also understand that swimming can be an expensive sport and as such we have incorporated different types of fundraising that help both the team as a whole and the swimmers individually.  Below you will find a description of the different fundraising efforts used by FAST and who they benefit.  There are other voluntary fundraising efforts throughout the year which benefit the club.  More information will be provided on these as it becomes available.

Fundraiser: Valuestar 2 for 1 Online Coupon Program

Benefits: FAST

Description: This is a mandatory fundraiser for all competitive FAST families (although non-competitive swimmers are also invited to participate).  Each family is required to purchase six Valuestar cards at a cost of $10.00 each (total $60.00) which will be collected at registration.   The cards can be kept by the family for their own use or can be sold for $10.00 each to recoup the cost of the cards.  Valuestar has been involved in fundraising in the Fredericton area for several years with their Valuestar coupon book.  This year they are launching their Valuestar 2 for 1 Online Coupon Program with “Buy 1, Get 1 Free” coupons in several industries (dining, entertainment, recreation, health and beauty).  The cards have a “scratch-off” with a unique membership number which is used to register on the Vauestar site and to access the coupons for printing. Extra cards are available and prizes will be awarded for the highest sales.

Fundraiser: Swim-a-thon

Benefits: FAST

Description: This is a mandatory fundraiser for all competitive FAST swimmers but non-competitive swimmers are also invited to participate.  Each family is required to support the swim-a-thon in the amount of $50.00 (which will be collected later and is not included in registration).  Swimmers gather pledges from family and friends and try to swim as many laps as they can in a set amount of time (approximately 2 hours or a maximum of 200 lengths).  Swimmers pledges can be per length or a lump sum.  Swimmers who raise the most money will be eligible for great prizes.  There is food and drink for all the swimmers at the end of the event and fun is had by all.

Fundraiser: Flea Market

Benefits: Individual swimmers

Description:  There is a Flea Market that is held every Sunday at Kings Place form approximately 10.30am to 2.30pm.  FAST has agreed to work the doors and take the admission fees from customers.  The owners of the Flea Market in turn pay FAST to perform these duties.  The money made from this venture is split amongst the door workers and the co-ordinators, and the money is paid into the swimmer’s credit account.  Anyone interested in working at the Flea Market should contact Mary Heffernan.

Fundraiser: Citrus Sale

Benefits: Individual swimmers

Description:  Each year FAST holds a citrus sale.  Friends, family and co-workers can order citrus (and cookie dough) through FAST families.  The citrus arrives in December and is distributed.  Profit from these sales goes into each swimmer’s credit account.

Each participating member is responsible to download their own customer order forms
